Conductor release popup

As a product marketing manager at Conductor, I partnered with the product team and technical writers on release announcements.

Problem

In app popup modals for release announcements contained repurposed content and visuals from the seasonal release blog post. This was redundant, and inconsistent with the visual style and tone used within the platform.

These release popups also contained multiple CTAs, all of which drove the user out of the platform to gated content on the marketing website.

This was not a good experience for the user, and engagement with announcements was low.

Goals & requirements

The goal for this project was to increase engagement with release announcement popups in the Conductor Searchlight platform.

The Pendo modal would appear upon login. Users would then ideally click through from the modal to read the full release announcement, which was hosted on a page in the platform.

Approach

Microcopy

To provide a more seamless and informative experience, we chose a single CTA that would take users directly to the Knowledge Base page for the full release notes — making information about the new features easily accessible, and keeping users within the platform.

Content design

For the upcoming release, we distilled the announcement down to a few easy-to-skim highlights, so that even users who closed out of the modal would be aware of the most important feature updates.

We also created a header image that highlighted the primary feature enhancement and included a product visual showing what had changed. As a result, traffic to the Page Insights feature doubled in the weeks following the release announcement.
